Rooftop Part: Luau at Plaza Hotel and Casino
Rooftop Party Views of Vintage Vegas
Key Lime Photography was excited to experience another Luau Beach Party at Plaza Hotel and Casino as the event photographer last spring. The rooftop party photos below prove that you really can have it all. While many Vegas hotels have a rooftop view, Plaza Hotel offers the best nostalgic escape. Located at the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, (not to be confused with the Las Vegas Strip) Plaza Hotel has been a hot spot since it opened doors in 1971. Nestled among other greats such as The Golden Nugget and Binions, Plaza sits at the throne of Fremont St. Their address is the cherry on top, residing at 1 Main St.
Luau Tradition
For the second year, Plaza Hotel and Casino hosted a rooftop party. It was an authentic Hawaiian Luau at their rooftop pool, complete with Hawaiian delicacies, specialty drinks and Polynesian dancers. Plaza staff greeted guests with a lei and later presented them with a full Hawaiian buffet. The walkway ramp leading to the dining area was lined with bamboo torches. Traditionally, the party served lomi salmon salad, macaroni salad, Huli Huli salad and a succulent slow roasted pig. Lechon is one of the most well known traditions and delicacies for several cultures’ celebrations. Among the Polynesian dancers, there were also a few fire dancers that really made sparks fly.
Grand Finale
What is a Las Vegas party without some gambling? The event included the Aloha $15,000 slot tournament with a $150 buy-in for guests. The top fifteen winners received prizes. The night was capped with a fireworks show from the rooftop pool deck. The annual beach party was deterred this spring due to COVID-19. However, we would at least like to share our rooftop party photos so you can see what all of the commotion is about. We hope to see you all there next season!
